The name of the city El Calafate comes from a native tree named calafate.  Story has it that whoever tries the fruit of the calafate tree always returns.

By air from Buenos Aires, you can get to Calafate in three and a half hours.

Calafate is one of nature’s treasures where you can visit the spectacular Perito Moreno glacier, viewing it from the boat, or if you wish, climbing on it and hiking through it. We invite you to feel the wind and listen to the enormous glacier in action.
